Lighting in a retail environment

When we consider lighting solutions within a retail environment there are some obvious aspects to think about - product visibility being the key thing - but our main consideration is the customer journey.

This starts outside the store, restaurant or showroom. Is it welcoming? Is it clearly defined? Is the signage prominent? Importantly, does the lighting reflect the brand (naming no specific brand, think 'dark and moody designer clothes stores' versus 'crisp, clean, popular computer centres' for example). And so the specification process begins to take shape.

Within the retail environment, we recommend lighting that makes people feel comfortable to work and visit there. We also look at focused product lighting, enhanced by mood lighting. The overall feel within the store should also strengthen the brand identity of the organisation: this is really important from a customer point of view. They want the stores to feel consistent and in harmony with their expected purchasing experience - whether they are buying a burger or a Bentley.

By bringing all the elements of lighting together, we aim to create an effective, stylish atmosphere - all within budget and with easy maintenance. It's a tall order but achievable with the right mix of products, contacts and experience.
